April 24th, there is still a good 2 feet of snow on the ground in places. The greenhouses though are fully melted and now that the covers have been down for bit the atmosphere inside is warm and humid and the ground is soft and ready for seeds. How many people can say they go to start their gardens by skidoo! We have our first 2 greenhouses started with crops that don’t mind the colder weather. Sugar Snap Peas, Spinach, Carrots, Onions, and Radishes are in the ground.
These Hanley tunnels from Multishelter Solutions are unheated but having kept the frames in the ground and tying the plastic covers over top allowed us to get them up and running early. It won’t be long before we get more planted and we’ll keep you posted on the progress.
